More than 23,000 participants crossed the finish line on the Great Aloha Run between Aloha Tower and Aloha Stadium.
Under overcast skies and humid conditions, 8.15 miles long had a place just before 7:00 with military runners and wheelchair entrants formation. The rest of the package starts at 07:00
According to the organizers of this event, 27,233 people signed up to run while 23,254 people crossed the finish line. Participation increased by about 3,000 from last year’s event, organizers said.
This is year 27 for the term, which increase fitness awareness and money for charity.
Some road closure in effect this morning downtown and along Nimitz Highway, Dillingham Boulevard, Kamehameha Highway, Center Drive, Radford Drive, Kamehameha Highway and Salt Lake Boulevard.
